This sweet pocket pittie was severely at risk in an underfunded, rural shelter. Due to her rapidly declining health, she urgently needed a rescue to step in and help her before it was too late. Sadly, her sister, who she was found with and was sharing a kennel with, had already passed away due to similar medical conditions.

When we picked Haven up from the shelter, her skin infections were so severe that she was not able to open both of her eyes as they were swollen shut and her skin was badly inflamed. Since then, she’s been able to go to one of our vet partners for a full check-up, where we learned that her skin is so severely inflamed and irritated due to having yeast and bacterial infections, and also Demodex mange. Despite having so much discomfort and pain, she’s shown how resilient she is by being the sweetest, mushiest girl to humans and pups alike. She’s begun her medical treatment and thanks to a dedicated foster, is safe in a foster home where she’s being showered in love. She’s expected to make a full recovery and is coming out of her shell more everyday!

Haven’s story is sadly a common one. We do our best to keep our social media light and happy, but times are tough in animal welfare and we are doing everything we can to help our shelter partners who are in a constant state of emergency. With the number of medical cases increasing and our struggle to find affordable and accessible spay and neuter, our vet bills continue to climb.
