Who We Are
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and a dedicated community of dog lovers working to reduce euthanasia in local shelters and increase awareness of rescue dogs being wonderful pets.
Why Wags?
Wags and Walks is focused on advocating for wrongfully stereotyped bully breeds, medical dogs, and mamas + puppies that are often overlooked and at-risk due to overcrowding. We do not select dogs based on their size, age, or breed. We select our dogs on a case-by-case basis, factoring in our ability to help and their likelihood of thriving when placed in the right home.
We know that, like amazing dogs, loving families come in all shapes and sizes. Our goal is to find every pup an adopter whose home, family, and lifestyle are a perfect fit for a lifetime of love and happiness.
Our Adoption Center in West LA is where our West Coast family adopts, volunteers, and learns about the importance of rescue. It is a hub for all-things rescue — events, volunteering, or searching for your future pup!
Since joining Nashville’s community in 2019, Wags & Walks is rapidly becoming a leading rescue in the area. In July 2023, Nashville opened an Adoption Center to support the community and save more dogs in need.
Our Story
Wags & Walks was founded in 2011 by Lesley Brog, who was devastated by the number of innocent dogs being euthanized in Los Angeles shelters due to overcrowding. Wags & Walks’ main goal is to break the stigma around rescue dogs and decrease the number of dogs euthanized in local shelters by proving that you can rescue wonderful dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments.
In 2019, our Nashville chapter was born. With many dogs being euthanized due to overcrowding in local and rural shelters in the South, we knew we had to help. Our Nashville team has made an incredible impact in the five years we’ve served the community.
Since 2011, Wags & Walks has collectively saved more than 13,100 dogs. Our impact comes from our dedicated team and a strong network of partners, incredible alumni, and loyal supporters who deeply believe in our mission. We are incredibly grateful for how our community embraces our teams and dogs. With your help, we can save so many more.
