Buttercup
Meet Buttercup — a 5-year-old, 29lb Bulldog mix with a heart full of love and the most resilient spirit. This adorable girl came into our care with some medical issues that required attention. Due to unethical breeding, Buttercup has an extremely narrow esophagus, which makes it difficult for her to breathe and eat. Sadly, this is all too common with bulldogs and other flat-faced breeds. Buttercup also has a cherry eye and a mass that we were hoping to help treat. However, after getting various opinions, the vets determined that Buttercup cannot safely undergo anesthesia. Sadly, this means she will never be able to have surgery to address these issues and it also means she cannot be spayed.
This sweet girl has been through a lot and has some special needs, so she will require a special forever home. Since she is ineligible for spay, she will need to go to a home as a solo pup, or with proof that resident dogs are altered. While she’s faced some challenges, she hasn’t let that bring her down. Buttercup’s foster describes her as incredibly loving and affectionate and a well-mannered house guest as she’s both potty and crate trained. Playing with toys in the yard and soaking up sunshine are some of her favorite activities! She’s a happy girl who adores people and enjoys the company of other laidback, easygoing pups.
