Indoor Activities with your Dog & Family: Movie Night

We know everyone is trying to figure out their new routines staying home and staying safe, so we decided to create an Indoor Activities Series to give you and your family some inspiration on how to spend your day. Of course, all of our advice will be dog-friendly so don’t worry about that. From alumni to first time fosters, it’s important to include your dog in activities during this time because they are probably equally as stressed with the interruption of their routines. Of course, they love having you around more but making sure to include them keeps them active, both mentally and physically. The first activity in our Indoor Activity Series is a family movie night!

Family Movie Night

Hopefully you haven’t worked your way through every movie and tv show on Netflix just yet. We suggest making a schedule of movies for the next few weeks to give everyone something to look forward to. If you want to make a game out of picking, write different movie titles on pieces of paper and add them all to a fishbowl. This way, a new family member can choose what you’re watching each time and you don’t also have to spend hours scrolling for something interesting to watch. Then, lay out some blankets and cushions and make your family room into a little movie screening room.

Here are a few of our favorite movies (all dog themed of course...because there is nothing better):

  • Secret Life of Pets

  • A Dog’s Purpose

  • A Dog’s Way Home

  • A Dog’s Journey

  • The Art of Racing in the Rain

  • Marley & Me

  • Best in Show

  • Turner & Hooch

  • White Fang

  • Homeward Bound

  • Because of Winn-Dixie

  • Hachi

  • Lassie

  • Benji

  • 101 Dalmatians (live action and cartoon)

  • Air Bud

  • Beethoven

  • Fox and the Hound

  • Up

  • 8 Below

  • Lady and the Tramp

These are just a few of our team’s favorite dog themed movies. We would love to hear your favorite! Share below or let us know on social!
