Pupchella Crafts & Activites

Friends, break out the glitter and flower crowns: it’s festival season here at Wags & Walks! Social distancing might be the name of the game, but that doesn’t mean you and your kiddos can’t get in touch with your inner Lana Del Rey from the comfort of your own digs! In preparation for this Sunday’s Pupchella, we have come up with some fierce and fabulous themed craft and activity ideas for humans and canines of all ages. And don’t forget to snap a photo of the finished product and tag us @wagsandwalks! We can’t wait to see what you make, and dance our faces off with you on Sunday!

  1. Alternative materials flower crown challenge! Anyone can make a daisy chain; this time make a flower crown, but make it sustainable! There are so many different materials with which you can craft flowers for a crown, and you probably don’t need to look farther than your own closet (or Amazon) Think paper, felt, egg cartons, even leaves on the ground can become colorful adornments just asking for a head to sit on. Fix them to an existing headband, or get creative with what you have lying around: the sky’s the limit! Hint: dogs don’t necessarily appreciate having a matching crown, but wow is it a cute look for the ‘gram.

  2. There’s nothing like a little tie dye to get a party started, but what if I told you it was possible to get it started in your very own fridge? There are so many incredible tutorials out there using fruit and vegetable-based dyes. No fabric? No problem! Cut up squares of old t-shirt, create matching bandanas for you and your pup (you can wear yours as a face mask, too.)

  3. You might not be sweating up a storm like you would at Coachella, but here’s a really cute way to turn a washcloth into a puppy. It serves absolutely no purpose than to utterly delight everyone, and really isn’t that reason enough?

  4.  There is nothing more punk rock than plants. Don’t believe me, check out this wildly fun and super easy planter DIY you can make at home! What to put in them? Don’t let convention reign you in; these little doodads can become holders for kitchen utensils, coffee pods, toothbrushes… or sticks. Yes, you heard me. Sticks!

  5. Sticks are a highly underrated resource for cool crafts, and there are at least five thousand different DIYs out there showing how COOL sticks become with just a little glitter and paint. Have your kids make some magic wands, and put them in your new planters. It’ll add some whimsy to your home, and we could all use a little whimsy nowadays.

These are challenging times, but it reminds us how very lucky we are, to be part of a community that is so uplifting and supportive (and creative!) So what are you waiting for? Make a flower crown and a magic wand, tag us on Instagram, and get ready because Pupchella is coming! See you on Sunday!
