2020 Highlights by Chief Animal Lover & Founder of Wags & Walks

Reflecting back on what Wags & Walks accomplished in 2020, I was surprised by how many special moments came to mind.

I immediately thought of the many pregnant dogs and litters we rescued. The moms were always so appreciative and, as you probably already know, the puppies were almost unbearably cute.

We saved a lot of dogs that needed medical attention and each one was sweeter than the next.

I think of our boy Cyrus, who couldn’t eat unless he was upright and so, in response, my team made him a special chair.

I think of the seniors. One that really sticks out is Elmer, the chihuahua with his tongue hanging out. He even got to star in a Subaru commercial! And when he was adopted, his 12 year old human brother got dressed up in a suit and tie to celebrate the occasion because he was just that excited to welcome him home.

I think back to when we had to pivot for the gala. Though we couldn't have it in person, you were all there for us while we creatively came up with a way to have fun, entertain you, and raise funds we needed for these dogs.

You participated in the doggy lookalike contest.

And we even got our Wags Kids involved to create their own unique Doggy Doodles. And, man, are our Wags Kids creative!

We’re so appreciative to the people that shared our message of rescue. When celebrities have a bigger voice than us, the message goes out so much wider and more people can learn that rescue dogs really are the best dogs in the world.

But at the end of the day, when I think back to my favorite moments in 2020, it’s the smiles that the dogs put on your faces. How happy the dogs made us feel during a time that was really challenging.

Looking at the smiling humans in all the endless pictures, it just brings me so much joy that Wags & Walks was able to bring the connection, companionship, and community that we were all looking for.

Most of us have already known it for a long time, but 2020 solidified the idea that a dog really does bring so much love and joy into our homes. We’re incredibly thankful to all of you for opening your homes and your hearts. And we look forward to saving so many more dogs together in 2021.
